Small Kitchens That Stand Out

Planning, Design

We have put together a list of our tops tips to give you some inspiration for small kitchens that are stylish and functional with a few clever design ideas thrown in which will help maximise your spaces’ potential and work well to suit your lifestyle.

If you are on a budget, one of the best things you can do is to collaborate with a professional kitchen designer because their expertise will help you get the best design and highest quality products for your space. As kitchen designers our creativity will maximise your budget with all the bells and whistles from your wish list.

Remember, improper planning can be very expensive. At Sam Davis Interiors we will help you get the best kitchen possible for your investment, especially if your kitchen is small.

1, To make the area appear visually larger, use light or white cabinets teamed with counter made of a reflective material. Too much white can be a bit bland; so don’t be afraid to add some artwork, colourful accessories, or a brightly coloured splash back to break up the white.

2, Get rid of clutter, and I mean take it to the bare essentials and keep only what you use every day. A small kitchen with Crowded counters make your space appear smaller. We can help by making suggestions that will maximise storage, so you can keep your surfaces clear.

3, Don’t be afraid to knock down a wall and open up a small galley kitchen into the next room. By opening up the kitchen and using the space in the adjoining room you will gain much needed extra space for storage and a dining area or breakfast bar.

4, Make the best possible use of the storage space available by utilising vertical space. Here we were able to squeeze in perfect vertical storage for spices. Why put in filler when the space is perfectly usable?

5, make the most of natural light where possible and add adequate lighting. Pendant lights over an island or breakfast bar along with under cabinet lighting will add style and ambience and help create the illusion of a bigger space.

6, Work surfaces are often found in the corner so make the most of them with specialised cabinet inserts like drawer dividers and pull out corner storage to maximise otherwise unusable space.
